NFDI4Biodiversity is a german organization dedicated to mobilising biodiversity and environmental data for collective use. They were looking to elevate and add depth to their communication.

We developed an illustration language that leverages their existing visual identity, bringing together imagery from their own databases, third-party photography, and a blend of abstract and figurative illustration. Besides depth, the variety and interplay of visual ingredients also brought a lot of flexibility to their communication. This resulted in a warmer tone of voice that is more personal without losing the scientific flair, and a team that now feels engaged and excited about the possibilities of the organization’s branding.

We created several narrative-based animations and a variety of supporting assets for both online and offline use.
