The podcast series Meer Verhalen delves into different visions on the future of the Randmeren—or ‘bordering lakes’—in the Netherlands. Spanning fifteen municipalities, the randmeren are a chain of lakes that separate reclaimed land from ancient land, and are home to forests, beaches, protected wildlife and recreational activities. The podcast explores the role of nature, humans and the balance between the two.

Process

In their concept phase, Vandejong had come up with landscapes abstracted to a stack of rectangles. I built on those to create a language that could work in film, adding a human touch along the way.

First route was to add more detail to the landscapes using the same geometric approach.

The tone wasn't right though, but I'm still quite fond of these landscapes.
